[LPL Board of Directors] MOTION FROM THE CHAIR - urgent - radio advertising
Adrien Monteleone
chairman at lplouisiana.org

Hasty? Certainly. There is a small window to take action. This happens
from time to time.
Ill advised? To advertise the LPL presence at an event to drive
membership and voter registration, how so?
Feel free to offer any objections to the motion you may have. Ask any
questions if you need more information.
Robert's does not have rules on email proceedings, other than to note
that it can possibly be used in some circumstances in the place of mail
ballots to conduct business outside of a regular meeting. It does stress
not to use it for deliberations. I'm not asking for deliberation but
you are free to engage in it if you wish. I'm asking for a vote.
I've consulted some time ago with various state chairs and decided back
then to adopt their general standing rules for how to conduct such business.
If you have a motion you want submitted for an email vote, it must be
submitted to the chair.
The chair will then post the motion and call for the vote.
If at the expiration of 72 hours, a quorum is not reached, the motions
expires.
If a quorum is reached within that period, and the requisite vote is in
favor, the motion passes. If not, it fails once enough people have
voted "nay."
Because our only stated rules are for postal mail ballots with a 15 day
window to cast a vote, I continue to record and archive votes for that
period, though usually, after a day or two, the issue is moot or has
passed with an absolute majority, or failed accordingly.
As I noted in the original message, I apologize for the short window.
Your's is only a few hours shorter, but that would extend the total
voting time to 72 hours from the time it was sent to you.
You can wait to study the issue more and discuss it more, and either not
cast a vote, abstain, vote nay, whatever. Either way, if a quorum is
not reached, or enough people have not voted in favor to pass, the
motion will die.
No one is forcing you to hurry up and make a decision.
I'm only asking you make it as soon as possible. You are always free
not to do anything at all. The motion may pass or fail with or without
your vote.
