[LPL Board of Directors] MOTION FROM THE CHAIR - urgent - radio advertising

Daniel Hayes sccrep at jefferson.lplouisiana.org

Reed,
You essentially just called me a liar. It is not productive or
appreciated. The numbers I were quoting came from my recollection of a
conversation I had with chuck Saucier the organizer of the event:

"March 13
Chuck..are you going to make it to the State Central committee meeting
in NOLA April 13th at noon?
9:12am
Still hopin to be working for the Libertarian party at the Strawberry
Festival that weekend...Its an event that draws 500,000+ people"

For the purpose of my point did it really matter? I can copy and paste
the Email and send it to anyone that cares to see it on facebook with my
pictures and chuck's sitting right in the mail. I also just got off the
phone with Chuck and when I told him that we were voting on whether or
not to do radio advertisement for the Festival..he interrupted me and
said he didn't think that would be a good investment. Anybody that cares
to call him and check this is welcome. I also told him with a laugh that
he got me "called out" over the numbers he gave to me on March 13th..and
he said the numbers vary on where you look and from year to year and
that the estimates do range upwards of 500,000 people. I suggest in the
future actually picking up the phone and talking to the people
organizing an event before making plans relative to that event to get
their input and perspective.

The fact that the Chairman had not made sure that the Reps have been
notified and are up to speed on this email system before springing this
hasty vote is problematic and I believe Mr Salgado has yet to receive
any Email at all because the party has the wrong address. There is a
reason why Robert's frowns upon email voting..and the problems arising
in this vote are why.

Additionally, the suggestion that I support someone else's project just
so that I get my own project in the future supported is rather
troubling. Isn't that the sort of behavior that we are supposed to be
working against? Also, to say that I am complaining...I thought I was
engaged in discussion. Maybe if things had been done properly relative
to notifying the new Reps there wouldn't have been anything to object to
on that regard. I frankly am taken aback at the VERY unprofessional
attitude I have been greeted with here. It's such a shame that one of
the only true professionals I have encountered in the party, Wes
Benedict, is resigning this Friday. His presence will be truly missed.
