[LPL Board of Directors] MOTION FROM THE CHAIR - urgent - radio advertising
Adrien Monteleone
chairman at lplouisiana.org
Wed Apr 10 11:51:09 CDT 2013
The motion is moot.
Voting is always open for 15 days because that is the best rule we have
that applies. (from a rule for postal mail)
Your vote is received and archived.
The LPL is not prohibited from promoting LP events on its own. That has
nothing to do with people putting on the event.
A Board member who is involved with the event asked for this.
We aren't reimbursing anyone. (if we had passed this)
We would be spending the money on our own accord.
The executive director contract is a significant part of our budget, but
it is by no means the only item in the budget, and its existence does
not preclude the party from spending on other projects it deems worthy
or needed.
The "funding issue" relative to the ED contract is more about problems
with the terms of the contract, not dollar amounts. It has to do with
what we have contracted for and what is being provided.
As you noted and as I advised when I spoke to you in person - funds
cannot be earmarked.
At no point that I am aware of, has this Board officially requested
donations for the sole purpose of paying for the ED's contract. We
always attempt to raise funds generally to support ALL party activities
and projects. (this was one of the reasons I asked you to remove the
Facebook post, which I see is still there)
If those donors wish to withdraw their pledges, they are free to do so.
There is never to be any expectation that donated funds will go to a
particular purpose. Donors either see what we are doing and they want
to support that progress, or they do not. Donating in an attempt to
influence future courses of action or in an attempt to restrict action
to only those purposes is strictly out of the question.
We welcome their support and input, but at the end of the day, the Board
decides where the money goes.
