The words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. are as poignant today as they were
in the 1960's: "We must learn to live together as brothers [and sisters] or
perish together as fools."
I quote the following three paragraphs from a previous email.
"Today, those that wish to establish global control use religion,
ethnicity, sexuality, politics, income gaps and more to keep people seeing
each other as the enemy when the real enemy is Big Government.
If you truly wish to combat the ones trying to establish and entrench
themselves as the ruling elite of the globe, all it takes is loving kindness
towards your fellow human beings. Even if you do not agree with all of their
opinions. Support their earthly right to have it and turn your aim towards
the true enemy of the people, Big Government in all its forms.
Only together can we defeat the true enemy of individual liberty,
freedom and civil rights."
In an earlier much longer communication I attempted to bring this point
across. As near as I can tell many did not read it, as only 3 of my requests
for voluntary receipt and read confirmation were returned.
I believe we have good officers. I believe in diplomacy. I believe in quiet
communications to resolve internal issues. I believe fights and bluster and
attacks, if done are to be external to the party.
The board has predominately done very well in this respect. Some are young
and impatient, I encourage your idealism and urge you to present solutions
and facts rather than just pointing out a problem, and attacking the person
who presented a fact which may be in question. Good people make mistakes.
None of us is immune from error.
As has been pointed out in more than one occasion, the last convention was
not well attended. The officers have do all they could to remedy that. The
party has grown dramatically.
Internal bickering, personal attacks, all are detrimental. Please, I implore
all of you, save the vitriol for our political opponents. Accept that there
is no perfect Libertarian. Personally, if a person can agree with me on some
points and work with me on those, I am glad for the help. I believe the
party would be well advised to adopt the same pattern.
